Meredith Mae Janice Ingalls 19302019

Meredith (Mae) Janice Ingalls
1930-2019
Mrs. Meredith (Mae) Janice (Brown) Ingalls, of Seal Cove,
Grand Manan, NB, died peacefully, on Saturday, December 14, 2019 under
the care of her family and the devoted Staff of the Grand Manan
Nursing Home.
Mae was a member of the Seal Cove Baptist Church where she
served the Lord she lived in the ministries of music, fellowship,
floral decoration and encouragement. Her life exemplified a firm faith
in God evident from her devotional and prayer
life.
Mae devoted her working days to the care and nurture of her
family and loving support of her husband Owen W. (Junior) Ingalls
during their 70 years of marriage. She took special delight in the
presence of her grandchildren and great grandchildren in her later
years. Her home was also a safe and warm place for their friends and
schoolmates. There they could always rely on a happy welcome, a
sympathetic ear; comfort and access to the well-stocked
“goody drawer” containing the fruit of her famous
baking skills.
Together with Junior; Mae exercised a wonderful gift of
hospitality. Those welcomed to her dining room table included extended
family and their friends, guests from church and folks from
“away” many of whom had enjoyed a trip to the weir
with Junior. Setting up extra tables was often necessary at Sunday
dinner and nobody ever left hungry or sad.
Mae also found time for her household chores to enjoy
photography, watching birds and gardening. In season her yard was
transformed into a colorful display of dahlias, glads, roses and many
other flowers and loved arranging them into beautiful
bouquets.
Mae is survived by her husband, Owen Wesley Ingalls, of Seal
Cove, five sons; David (Debbie) Ingalls, of Ingalls Head, Bob (Muriel)
Ingalls of Moncton, NB, Joseph (Leola) Ingalls of Seal Cove, Russell
(Joan) Ingalls of Grand Harbour, Capt. Danny (Heidi) Ingalls of
Barnesville, NB; 16 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; two
sisters, Estella Harvey and Ellen Bleumortier (David Hepditch), her
brother Ross (Charlotte) Brown. Mae will be sadly missed by her family
and others whose lives she touched with acceptance and
kindness.
Mae is predeceased by her parents Melvin and Hilda
(Ingersoll) Brown; daughter Joan Cook, her son-in-law Laurence Cook,
three sisters Greta Frost, Irma Middleton, and Beulah
Ingalls.
There will be visitation on Friday, December 20, 2019 from
the Seal Cove Baptist Church starting at 1:00 PM. Funeral
Service will be from the Seal Cove Baptist Church at 2:00 PM.
Interment Service will follow at Hill Side Cemetery, with immediate
family only.
Her family wishes to express deep gratitude to the nurses and
staff of the Grand Manan Nursing Home where Mae spent the last two
years of her life in safety and comfort during her struggle with
Alzheimer’s disease. Their care and patience with Mum made a
difficult situation bearable for all of us.
For those who wish, a donation in Mae’s memory can
be made to ALS Society, The Alzheimer’s Society, The Seal
