Obituary
Mary Speers passed away peacefully at the age of 91 at Muskoka Shores on December 16, 2019. She was born in 1928 in downtown Toronto. She was the beloved wife of the late Cantley who she had been married to for over 50 years. They lived in Toronto, Hamilton, Montreal and back to Toronto, but their favorite place to live was in Muskoka. Mary worked as a secretary before moving up to Gravenhurst to raise their three sons.
She was the daughter to the late Ida (Vendetti) and Laurence Agnelli who moved to Canada from Rome and Caserta, Italy at very young ages. Mary was the third born of six children. Her siblings were Val (Helen) Agnelli, Kay (Ray) Cullen, Anne (Bruno) Vatri, Larry (Barbara) Agnelli, and Susan (Ken) Langland.
Mary was the loving mother of Larry (Debbie), Jamie (Danielle) and Rod (Janell). She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She was a strong, determined and independent woman. She especially loved her role as “Mimi” to her six grandchildren, which are three sets of boy/girl twins, Nick, Amanda, Cody, Erin, Stephanie, and Mike. She wanted her children and grandchildren to experience what it was like to live on Lake Muskoka.
She loved to knit, do crossword puzzles, and had a flare for baking. She was well-known for her Mimi (smartie) Cookies! Mary loved listening to Frank Sinatra and watching Turner Classic movies. She loved fresh flowers, and in her spare time, she would spend hours working in her gardens. She was loved by all those who knew her and she enjoyed sitting by the lake to watch her grandchildren doing water sports. What made her happiest was to have a place for her grandchildren to come and enjoy. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held this Saturday December 21, 2019 at 12:00 PM with reception to follow at Cavill Funeral Home in Gravenhurst.
Donations will be graciously accepted at the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
