Obituary of Mark Anthony Banga
Mark, late of Regina, SK, formerly of Stockholm, SK, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at the age of 60 years old. He was born on August 28, 1959 in Esterhazy, SK to John and Rose Banga.
Mark was predeceased by his father John Banga; mother Rose Banga; father-in-law Ellsworth Hopkins; mother-in-law Evelyn Hopkins; and brother-in-law David Jakubowski.
He is survived by his wife Sheila; daughters Christine (Kyla Gwilliam) and Whitney (Travis Eoris); sisters, Marcelline (Rod Gyug) and Darlene Jakubowski; brothers Darwin (Arlene), Ross (Norma) and Brian (Lori); brother-in-law Dwayne Hopkins (Debbie); sister-in-law Lynnice Nixon (Wade); sister-in-law Heather Leather (Don) Leslie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mark attended elementary school in Stockholm at MacDonald and St. Joseph’s School. He was nicknamed “Rat” by his friends growing up. He played fastball for Stockholm, his position was shortstop. Mark was employed at Curtis Construction at the time of his passing. He loved sports. He was a long-time fan of the Philadelphia Flyers, Dallas Cowboys and Boston Red Sox. Mark became an avid fan of the Saskatchewan Roughriders after they came to visit him in the hospital when he was undergoing his cancer treatments in 2001. He loved to barbeque, work in his yard and cater to his backyard birds. He was a lifetime member of the KISS ARMY.
Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Parish, 1021 McCarthy Blvd., Regina, SK on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mark’s name may be made to a charity of choice.
