Obituary
Marilynne Raye Smith
February 21, 1964 – December 13, 2019
Our beloved sister, aunt, and niece passed away peacefully with family at her side at the Comox Valley Hospital.
Marilynne was predeceased by her father, Jim Smith, May 3, 1974 and mother, Pat Smith, May 8, 2012.
She is survived and dearly missed by her sisters, Millie Johnson (Dave), and Lela Szikora (Rick), brother, Sherman Smith, 5 nephews, 4 nieces, 11 great nephews and nieces, an aunt, Norma Lake, and uncle, Bill Smith.
Special thanks go out to the loving and compassionate care of the Lannan road group home staff over the many years she lived there until her recent illness.
Thank you to all who visited Marilynne in hospital and shared her life experiences. This “living memorial” was deeply appreciated.
A private memorial for Marilynne will take place at a later date.
DON’T GRIEVE FOR ME, FOR NOW I’M FREE
I’M FOLLOWING THE PATH GOD HAS CHOSEN FOR ME.
I TOOK HIS HAND WHEN I HEARD HIM CALL;
I TURNED MY BACK AND LEFT IT ALL.
I COULD NOT STAY ANOTHER DAY,
TO LAUGH, TO LOVE, TO WORK OR PLAY,
TASKS LEFT UNDONE MUST STAY THAT WAY;
I’VE FOUND PEACE AT THE END OF DAY.
IF MY PARTING HAS LEFT A VOID,
THEN FILL IT WITH REMEMBERED JOYS.
A FRIENDSHIP SHARED, A LAUGH, A KISS;
OH YES, THESE THINGS, I TOO WILL MISS.
BE NOT BURDENED WITH TIMES OF SORROW
LOOK FOR THE SUNSHINE OF TOMORROW.
MY LIFE’S BEEN FULL, I SAVOURED MUCH;
GOOD FRIENDS, GOOD TIMES, A LOVED ONE’S TOUCH.
PERHAPS MY TIME SEEMS ALL TOO BRIEF;
DON’T LENGTHEN YOUR PAIN WITH UNDUE GRIEF,
LIFT UP YOUR HEART AND PEACE TO THEE,
GOD WANTED ME NOW – HE SET ME FREE
