Born Ellen Margaret Howell Attwood on October 23, 1923 in North West Arm, “Margaret” left home at an early age to train as a nurse. She started practicing in 1946, and continued until the late 1950s, during which time Margaret delivered 118 babies in the rural Newfoundland communities she served. Known for her baking, it was impossible to visit without enjoying or leaving with a cookie or piece of cake. She will be fondly remembered by all those who knew her.
At her request, cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm, with a family service planned during the evening. To celebrate her life, a memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 11am at Memorial United Church, Valleyfield. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Margaret’s memory may be made to Memorial United Church Cemetery Fund, Valleyfield or 2910 Lion’s Army Cadet Corps, Badger’s Quay (New-Wes-Valley).
