Lorraine Marie Rosia Mercer
1945-2019
Lorraine Marie Rosia Mercer, age 74, died at Saint John
Regional Hospital on Friday, Dec. 21, 2019, due to complications after
surgery.
Born September 9, 1945, in Campbellton, NB where she lived
until meeting her husband Larry. Larry was an RCMP officer stationed
there. They married March 15, 1969, and then moved to Fredericton, NB.
Lorraine worked as an accountant for Paul Burton. They moved to
Woodstock, NB after the birth of their only child Cindy. In 1972 they
bought the Cosy Cabins Motel and remained living there until 2017.
They bought a house in Bedell where Lorraine enjoyed retirement and
spending winters in Florida.
Lorraine is best known for her sense of humour, laugh, and
love of family, travel, and shopping.
Survivors include her husband Larry, daughter Cindy (Tom
Stanley), and two grandchildren, Ashley (Brad Boaz) and Shawn
Stanley.Her brothers Paul Dugas (Jackie), Robert Dugas (Cathy), Danny
Dugas (Diane), and Gerald Dugas (Sandra), her sisters, Diane Duplain
(Serge) and Linda Dugas. A brother in law Terry Mercer (Linda), and a
sister in law Carrol (Doiron), as well as several nieces and
nephews.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents Rosia then
Phillibert Dugas, her father-in-law Fred Mercer, brother-in-law Jerry
Doiron, and several aunts and uncles.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, December 27,
2019 at The Carleton Funeral Home &
Crematorium 337 Lockhart Mill Road Jacksonville.
Relatives will be welcome at 3 pm and the public is invited
to attend from 4-6 pm. Interment will be held at a later
date.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the
River Valley Cancer Support Group, Carleton County Animal Shelter or
to DunRoamin Stray & Rescue.
