Lorimer’s Obituary
SAWLER, Lorimer Berton ~ Age 92, of Berwick, formerly of Cambridge, Kings Co., passed away on Friday, December 27, 2019, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on July 1, 1927, in Cambridge, he was a son of the late Ezra W. and Mary H. (McGill) Sawler. Lorimer had worked at Dominion Atlantic Railway as a yard clerk in Windsor, later employed at Frasers Pro Home Centre and finally at Berwick Building Supplies until his retirement. He was a long time member of Cambridge United Baptist Church, the Cemetery Committee and was a veteran member of Waterville & District Volunteer Fire Department. Lorimer was an active member of his community and was well known for being a “Jack of all trades”. Surviving are his daughter, Edith (Mike) Riley, Kentville; grandchildren, Danielle (Mathieu), Patrick (Jaime), Matthew (Anna) and Christopher (Rhiannon); great grandchildren, Elliot, Claire and Mackenzie; sister-in-law, Hazel Sawler, Grand View Manor, Berwick; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife the former Helen L. Johnstone; son, Daniel Berton; sister, Lillian (Earl) Arenburg; brothers, Alfred and Ritson (Carol).There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A service in celebration of Lorimer’s life followed by a reception will take place at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 4, in Cambridge United Baptist Church, 5981 Hwy No. 1, Cambridge. Lic. Joe Gosbee officiating, assisted by Rev. Dr. Judith Saunders. Interment will be in Cambridge Cemetery.
