It is with great love and sadness that we say goodbye to loving wife, mother, sister, auntie and friend to many, Lois Cantin, at the age of 68. After a hard-fought battle with cancer, Lois passed away peacefully in her sleep, with her boys by her side.
Lois will be missed by husband Alistair Callegari, sons, Shawn and Scott, sisters, Vivian, Joan and Roxanne, and many dear friends and family.
Lois was born in McCreary, Manitoba to parents, Noel and Bernice Cantin. Having learned to ski at Mount Agassiz in Riding Mountain National Park, she rose the ranks as a downhill racer and joined the Canadian National Ski Team.
Lois then attended the University of Manitoba College of Pharmacy and began an outstanding career as a pharmacist and pharmacy manager. She is well-known throughout Manitoba, having worked in Winnipeg, Flin Flon, Churchill, and several other northern communities. Lois also served terms as President of both the Manitoba Pharmaceutical Association and the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities.
Lois always lived life to the fullest. In her final months, she went snorkeling with manta rays in Hawaii, skiing in Banff, and was filled with pride to see her son get married in June. She enjoyed one more Winnipeg Folk Festival (a 30+ year family tradition), relaxed at her cabin sanctuary with precious granddog Rugby, and shared many great moments with loved ones. For those memories, we will be forever thankful.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at 2:00 pm, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg.
In Lois’s honor, an evening of music and memories will be hosted in Flin Flon at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, please made a donation in memory of Lois to CancerCare Manitoba.
