Delia Locke, 91 years of age passed away peacefully, in her sleep in Nelson BC on December 8th 2019. Delia was the last surviving child of John Simpson & Catherine Stevenson Simpson of Kirkintilloch, Scotland.
Delia was predeceased by her husband James (1925 -1999) and their son Robert (1955-1982). She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her children John, Catherine (Arnie) and Stephen; past daughter in law Debbie, 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and other extended family and friends.
Mom grew up in Ottawa, one of 8 children of Scottish immigrants. After marrying our dad Jim, they moved to Montreal to raise their family. When Dad passed away in 1999, mom moved to Nelson to live with Catherine and Arnie and their young family in their home at 6 Mile.
Delia had a great love of family and traveled east on a regular basis so she could be part of all her grandchildren’s lives. The family has so many fond memories that we will forever cherish. Mom was a quick wit, full of spunk, sharp with crossword puzzles and ever curious about current affairs, politics and the world around her. Mom kept up with the times, always eager to learn, she had a mischievous spirit and was always ready for some fun.
Delia was active in many volunteer activities including her work as a grand friend and as treasurer for the Friends of the Library. She also enjoyed her twice-weekly bridge group at the Senior Center.
The family wishes to sincerely thank Sheelagh Wright, a true angel in our mother’s final chapter of life.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Delia’s life will be held in Montreal in the springtime.
Mom will forever live in our hearts and be fondly remembered by her family and close friends.
