Leeta Beatrice Oates ( nee Armstrong )
May 18, 1927 – December 13, 2019
On December 13, 2019, at Chelsea Park Assisted Living Home, London ON., Leeta went peacefully from this life to the next at the age of 92. Leeta was the daughter of the late John and Selma Armstrong of McLennan ON., and the last surviving sibling. She was predeceased by bother Llewellyn Armstrong ( Georgina ), sister Lenore Pryor ( George ) , twin brothers Willard and Channing Armstrong, sister Loverna Ramsay ( Don ), Nephew Bruce Martin ( Carol ), and Nephew John Armstrong ( Gini ). Leeta is survived by niece Marilyn Travaglini (Rick), and niece Donna Anderson (LeRoy).
Leeta was born in Laird Ontario and was a long-time resident of London Ontario. She worked for many years for the Bell Telephone in Sault Ste. Marie, Blind River, Byron and London. She also worked for Ramada Inn and the London branch of the Workman’s Compensation Board until her retirement.
Special thanks and heartfelt appreciation goes out to the very caring staff and medical team at Chelsea Park Assisted Living Residence, Doctor Krishanthy Shu, the Palliative Care Team, Doctor Hamilton, Doctor Stack, and Dr. Valiulus. Thank you to the South West LHIN, St. Elizabeth Health Care and the team of nurses and care workers for their help, support and compassion. Much appreciation to Kenn and the staff at the London Cremation Services for their professionalism, empathy, and understanding. Leeta especially wanted to thank Muriel Holden and Ellen Sanderson, for all the good times, their love and friendship that she greatly cherished.
In keeping with Leeta’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. Donations in her memory can be made to the Animal Wildlife Association, The Canadian Cancer Association, or a charity of choice.
Below is a verse from the song, “The Sands of Time”, that was one of Leeta’s favorites and she wanted it included in her obituary. The song was written by Andy Greatrix and recorded and sung by her niece Donna Ramsay Anderson.
SOON THE STREAM OF LIFE WILL REACH THE BAY OF NEVERMORE
MY SHARE OF TIME WILL HELP TO MAKE A WAVE UPON THE SHORE
MY MEMORY WILL TURN INTO A THOUSAND GRAINS OF SAND
TO REST UPON THE BEACH OF USED TO BE

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Leeta
