Memorial Donation
It is with great sadness that the family of Leverna Smith announce her sudden passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, December 5, 2019, at the age of 69.
Unbeknownst to her, Leverna lit up every room she walked into with her infectious smile and fun-loving attitude. She had a fierce love for her family and had no trouble expressing this love. She was extremely young at heart and was often the life of the party. For many family members, she was a soft place to fall while providing a nonjudgmental ear to listen and stress-relieving hugs.
Many were left in awe of her quick wit and creative talents in whatever she attempted. Her greatest talent being her ability to make homemade bread worthy of fighting over. Always the peacekeeper, Leverna made sure everyone received a fresh bun on the day it was baked.
She is fondly remembered by her husband of 52 years, Allan, along with her three children, Carrie (Rob) of Cornwall, Allan (Tracy) of Codroy Valley, and Dwayne (Ashley) of Fort McMurray, her five grandchildren Aimee, Ethan, Alyse, Jared, Addison and one great-granddaughter, Charlie. She is also remember her two brothers Gus (Bess), Peter (Theresa), two sisters Mary (Raymond) and Vivian (Charlie) along with an a large number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Joe and Carrie Cluney, her brothers Joseph, Alban, Bernard and her sisters Gladys, Theresa, Gloria and Vanisa.
Please join the family as they honour Leverna and the many wonderful ways she impacted our lives at Russells Funeral Home on Monday, December 9th, from 7-9pm. A celebration of life will take place at the Stephenville United Church, December 10th at 11:00am, followed by a gathering at the Leisure Centre on Father Joy’s Road.
In lieu of flowers, please feel free to give donations, as Leverna often did, to the Salvation Army.
