Kevin Halchyshak 2019

Kevin’s Obituary
With great sadness, the family of the late Kevin Halchyshak announce his sudden passing at Canora, SK, on December 1, 2019, at the age of 56 years.
Kevin was born on January 6, 1963, in Thompson, MB, to Lawnie and Norma (Andersen) Halchyshak. Kevin was the third child, growing up with one brother and two sisters. He attended elementary and high school in Thompson, MB. Upon completion of his education, Kevin became employed at the Inco mine in Thompson, where he started his career as a labourer on the tracks underground. His hard work and perseverance lead him to becoming certified as a mechanic. Kevin remained dedicated to his work for over 38 years, as he recently retired in September 2019.
In June 1987, Kevin married Donna Rakochy and they were blessed with two children, Aynslee in 1989 and Brenden in 1993. A proud father, Kevin enjoyed seeing his children grow and achieve. He especially enjoyed watching them play baseball and made sure he attended Brenden’s hockey games, knowing the importance of always being there to cheer his children on. He also loved to golf with the kids, his family and friends.
Active in his community, Kevin was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus, bowled in the Thompson league, was a bingo caller and a football fan. He played hockey growing up and enjoyed hockey through to adulthood. He also loved fishing/ice-fishing, hunting, curling and snowmobiling with friends. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading, watching movies and has built up a significant collection of books and videos that show his love for this. Kevin also enjoyed a good game of cards. Mostly, Kevin enjoyed his time with family and friends and knew the importance of spending time together. He was proud of his children and greatly treasured the gift of a grandson. He will be fondly remembered and forever missed by all who knew and loved him.
Kevin is survived by his parents, Lawnie and Norma Halchyshak; daughter, Aynslee (Andrew) Sararas and son, Brenden (Kelsey) Halchyshak; his only grandson, Ryker Sararas; brother, Mitch Halchyshak; and his sisters, Barb (Tom) Barrie and Lenora (Ross) Argue; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 6, 2019, from the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home, Canora, SK, with Very Rev. Fr. Joakim Rac, as Celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow in the Canora Cemetery.
