It is with profound sadness, that we announce the passing of Katherine Anne “Kay” Edwards, loving wife to Norman Edwards of Killaloe, on 23 December 2019 at the age of 81.
Kay left us peacefully in the presence of Norman and one of her granddaughters, Brianne, after a short hospital stay at the St Francis Memorial Hospital of Barry’s Bay.
Born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, in 1938, to John and Mary Ostrowski, she married Norman in 1958 after a chance meet on a train to Northern Ontario, and lived the life of a nomadic military wife until they finally settled in Killaloe, Ontario, in 1998. If travel was one of her favourite pastimes, her passion was family. No where was she happier than when surrounded by family.
Devoted wife to Norman, she is the much loved mother to Steven (Sandra), Richard (Monica), Michael (Beth), Christine (Ian) and Valerie (Pierre). Cherished grandmother to Laila (Craig), Melissa (Kevin), Jon (Pan), Samantha, Meghan (Brendan), Liam (Shannon), Christopher (Natalia), Shaynah (Paraic), Brianne (Cody), Elise (Jordan) and Alexandre; and treasured great-grandmother to Mya, Matthew, Parker, Haley, Lucas, Asher, Aurora, Fionnlagh and Clara. Predeceased by her youngest daughter Valerie, her family is delighted to know that she is enjoying a much-anticipated reunion with Valerie and other members of her family.
Visitation will be held at Zohr Family Funeral Home, Killaloe, On Thursday, January 2, 2020 from 6 – 8pm and again Friday morning after 9:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Killaloe, at 11am. Reception to follow at the church. Spring interment in the parish cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy, and in lieu of flowers, please consider donation to the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation or to St. Andrew’s Catholic Church floor restoration project. Tributes, condolences and donations can be made online at www.zohrfuneralhome.com
Norman and the children would like to acknowledge and thank the doctors, nurses and volunteers at St Francis Memorial Hospital for your kindness, graciousness, and gentle manners. Your sincerity, tremendous love of those in your care and valued support were instrumental in helping us in our time of need.
