Kathleen Ann (Watts) Richard (sometimes known as Kate by her
friends), passed away at the age of 72, on November 29, 2019 in the
Wolfville Nursing Home, suffering various illnesses over the last
number of years. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of Calvin and
Lorna Watts and sister to Helen. Kathleen moved to Shelburne in her
late teens. She married Larry Richard and raised two daughters, Julie
Kathleen and Jennifer Lorna in Wilmot, NS. After the girls went off to
university, she moved to Dartmouth, NS, where she worked as a personal
care worker. Kathleen was a voracious reader, loved playing majong,
listening to music, card games and her cats. She cared deeply for her
family and other people, she always tried to help, whenever she could.
She raised her girls to be kind, loving individuals and taught them
the importance of volunteer work. She will be dearly missed by her
family, Julie, Igot, Gabriella (Kentville), Jennifer, James, Felicity
and Francesca (Seattle), Helen and Winnie and Stacey and family
(Greenhill). Kathleen has been cremated and there will be no
visitation, by request. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-5
p.m. at 33 Park Street, Kentville, on Sunday, December 8, 2019. In
lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Diabetes Canada, Mental
Health Association and Bide Awhile Animal Shelter. Arrangements have
been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation
Services, Kentville.
