Obituary
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Katherine Alice (Hughes) Tufts which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, December 27th, 2019. Born 1956, in Summerside, PEI, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Olive Jean (Heckbert) Hughes. Katherine worked as a Registered Nurse in MICU for 15 years and worked with Extra Mural for 20 years. She loved to travel and enjoyed spending time at her cottage in PEI. Katherine loved scrapbooking, knitting, sewing and shopping. Family meant everything to her and she cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and friends.
Katherine is survived by her daughters Amy Tufts-Lynch (Corey) of Edmonton, AB, Heather Tufts (Mac) of Saint John, Meghan Tufts (Vicky) of Saint John; brother Steven Hughes (Carolyn) of PEI; sisters Peggy MacDonald of Alberta, Nancy Hughes (Lloyd) of PEI; grandchildren Lexi, Aidan, Brooklynn, Mason and Jessie; her chosen sister Susan Mill; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents, Katherine was predeceased by her husband Wendall Irwin Tufts.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (4347 Loch Lomond Road) on Thursday, January 2nd at 2 p.m. Interment will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Katherine may be made to Victoria’s Quilters, Bobby’s Hospice or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
