Obituary of Karen Angelena Dykens
Karen Angelena Dykens, 66 of Belmont passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. She was the daughter of the late George and Mildred (Eagles) Dykens.
She loved hunting, fishing, camping and in her later years, she enjoyed spending time with her friends, scrapbooking and quilting. Karen also treasured her volunteer work at the Colchester Food Bank.
Karen is survived by her daughter Wanda (Robert) Forrest, Halifax; step-daughters Joanne (Marshall) Weir, Belmont; Patty Weir, Glenholme; step-son Percy (Marilyn) Murray, London, ON; brothers Gerry (Linda) Dykens, Debert; Owen Dykens, Debert; sister Fern (Doug) Lattie, Truro; ten grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Karen was predeceased by her husband Floyd Roode; step-son F. Greggory Roode; sisters Marlene and Ellen; brother James and sister-in-law Audrey Dykens.
A very special thank you to all the nurses and doctors in the ER, ICU, 3 East Wing and Palliative Care for the wonderful care you all gave while looking after Karen.
There will be no visitation or formal funeral service by request. A Graveside Service will be held in the spring in the Middle Road Cemetery, Debert for family and friends. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Colchester Food Bank or charity of choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4P 1B9 (902-679-2822).
