Obituary of Joyce Winnifred (Hatfield) (Moore) Mundee
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joyce Winnifred (Hatfield) (Moore) Mundee which occurred on Friday, December 13, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on September 16, 1924, she was a daughter of the late George and Katherine (Mosher) Hatfield. She was predeceased by her first husband, Lloyd W. Moore, and second husband, Lawrence S. Mundee.

Graduated from Saint John High School in 1941 and from the Commercial Department of Vocational School in 1942.
Worked as a secretary in Red Rose Tea Company for a short time, and then during the war worked for the District Stores Audit Branch until September 1945 when she married returned P.O.W. Lloyd Moore. In that day you could not work for the Civil Service once you were married. Stayed at home to raise her two sons until they were in university, at that time she went to work for Keystone Industries for 2 years.
Joyce spent all her summers at her beloved Sand Point on the Saint John River where she loved to swim, converse with all her friends and relatives on the beach, and watched so many little ones grow up, learn to swim, sail boats, and become accomplished adults.
Lifetime member of the former Germain Street Baptist Church, very active in the Women’s Missionary Society, Dominion Life Member of that group, also held many offices in other groups, where she served with her lifetime friends. Since the closing of that Church, she has attended St. Mark’s United Church and enjoyed her time there amongst very kind people.
Survived by one son, Donald W. Moore (Donna) of Rothesay; daughter-in-law Valerie Moore of Fredericton, Step-son, Dean Mundee (Pamela) of Fredericton; four grandchildren, Donnie Moore (Keely), Amy Wear (Dr. Andrew), Steven Moore (Birte) and Julie Moore (Greg George); two step grandchildren, Jeff Mundee (Claudia) and Heather Hendricks (Mike); eight great grandchildren, Abby and Kayla Wear, Isabelle and Alexander Moore, Nika and Oscar Moore and Garrett and Nathaniel George; five great step-grandchildren, Yanet, Taliah, and Talia Mundee; and Nevin and Owen Hendricks as well as several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her brother Donald Hatfield, sisters Doris Dill and Connie Morrison, step-brother Gordon Hatfield, step-sister Amy (Hatfield) Purssell and beloved son David Moore.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 from the Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel at 12 PM. A reception will take place in the Brenan’s Reception Centre following the service and an interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery after the reception.
