September 18, 1939 – December 4, 2019
It is with heartfelt sadness that we gather to mourn the loss of our deeply beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, John G. Sawatzky. On December 4, 2019 John passed away peacefully at RUH hospital at the age of 80 years after battling lung and bone cancer for the last six and a half years but finally succumbing to other health complications. John was a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa and brother. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol; son Rod & Joanne Sawatzky, children Stephanie & Devin Becker (Jordyn & Ayden), Chelsea, Lauren & Jordan Hydomako, daughter Glenda Sawatzky (children Brendan and Courtney) & her husband Dan O’Keefe (children Brianna, Vanessa, Shannon), son Randy & Robin Sawatzky, children Tyler, Delaney, and Kirsten, daughter Diane Sawatzky, children Scott and Michael, daughter Sandra & Richard Janzen, sister Helen Loewen, sister Marie Neudorf, brother Peter & Tina Sawatzky, sister Nettie Neufeld, sister Tena Neudorf, brother Dick & Alma Sawatzky, and sister Alma Neudorf. He was predeceased by his parents George and Maria and brothers George (Helen), Jake (Tina), infant brother, Frank Sawatzky; brothers-in-law Dave Loewen, Peter Z. Neudorf, Tom Neufeld, Bill Neudorf, and William Z. Neudorf. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 9, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at the Hague Mennonite Church, Hague, SK. Interment will take place at Hague Cemetery. Memorial Donations can be made in John’s name to the Saskatoon Cancer Clinic, 20 Campus Dr, Saskatoon, SK S7N 4H4. Arrangements are entrusted to Funk’s Funeral Home, Rosthern, SK (306) 232-5245 (www.funksfuneralhome.ca).
