John Ramsay Douglas Forbes
1923-2019
John Ramsay Douglas Forbes, passed away suddenly at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Thursday, December 5th, 2019 at the age of 96. He is predeceased by his beloved wife: Elsie in January of 2018.
Father of son: John (Bernadette) of Windsor, ON and daughter: Sharon of Ottawa, ON; grandfather to eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
He was born in Windsor, Ontario, on July 14th, 1923. Joined the Armed Forces in 1939 at the age of sixteen. Wounded in March, 1945 and awarded the Ordre National de la Legion D’Honneur – Chevalier de la Legion D’Honneur by Prince Charles in October 2006, designating him with the Title Sir John Ramsay Douglas Forbes.
Moved to California in 1962, where Dad was a salesman. He could sell snow to Eskimos. He and Elsie returned to Canada in 2001, and resided in his new homeland of Miramichi.
Always the salesman, we would be hard pressed that most everyone didn’t know our Dad. A life well lived, he will be missed by all and his canine companion, Benji.
At John’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Burial will take place in Notre Dame Cemetery, Ottawa at a later date.
As expressions of sympathy, in John’s memory, donations may be made to the SPCA.
