Obituary
James Bowman Norrie
September 5, 1926 – December 11, 2019
Peacefully, at the age of 93 after a lengthy illness, James Bowman Norrie of Dauphin, MB passed away.
James was born in Maymont, Saskatchewan and at about two years of age he came with his parents to Manitoba and the family farmed near Glenella. His early education began at Glenella and he continued on to become a school teacher and taught in different parts of this province.
In 1950 he married the love of his life, Gladys Windsor, of Riding Mountain. Together, they raised four children.
His other love was watches and after taking appropriate training, James opened a shop in 1971, Jim’s Watch Repair, in Dauphin. Here he served for 20 years until his retirement.
James was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone. He had a kind and gentle spirit and an agreeable personality that made even nervous strangers relax in his presence.
James will be dearly and sadly missed by Gladys, his loving wife of 69 years and his four children: Robert, Jean (Victor), Donald and John. Granddaughter: Chrystal (Nathan) and great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Kauis and Paxton. One sister: Eleanor and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Paul’s Personal Care Home in Dauphin for their dedicated and comforting care during James’ lengthy stay.
A celebration of James’ life will be held at 2:00 PM on Dec. 16 at the Sneath Strilchuk Family Care Centre in Dauphin with interment following at the Riverside Cemetery.
