Iris’ Obituary
BARKHOUSE, Iris Udavilla ~ Age 74, of Mount Hanley, Annapolis Co., passed away peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2019, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, after a brief illness. Born in Upper Cornwall, Lunenburg Co., she was a daughter of the late Harry and Cyrilla (Robar) Barkhouse. Iris enjoyed music, gardening, playing radio bingo and family gatherings. She was a very hard worker all of her life. Iris worked at Middleton Dry Cleaners for many years, then on to Webster Farms in Cambridge until retiring in 2010. She loved her family dearly, especially her son, Neil and grandson, Kyle. Iris will be sadly missed by her son, Neil (Shelly), South Williamston; grandson, Kyle; brothers, Joe Barkhouse, Mount Hanley; Morley Barkhouse, Wilmot; Winston Barkhouse, Middleton; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Milton Barkhouse; sisters-in-law, Marjorie and Joan Barkhouse. Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday evening, in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448, from where the funeral service will take place 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 18. Rev. Leon Langille officiating, with interment in Hillside Cemetery, Port George. Donations in her memory may be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Iris’s family would like to thank the nurses at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital and Valley Regional Hospital for giving her great care.
