Obituary
It is with a heavy heart yet appreciation for a life well lived that the family of Horst Franz Paul Sauerteig announces his peaceful passing on Thursday December 19, 2019 at Bobby’s Hospice. Born 1918 in Leipzig, Germany, he was the son of the late Albin and Luise (Heiseler) Sauerteig.
Horst was a Civil Engineer and worked as Manager of Marque Construction for 24 years. His interests were sailing on the Kennebecasis River and Friends of Rockwood Park.
Horst is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Herta (Petersen) Sauerteig; children Susanne Sauerteig of Hamilton, ON, Michael (Jennifer) of Fredericton, Johannes (Debbie) of Barrie, ON; and Barbara Sauerteig (Jason Paikowsky) of Hamilton, ON; brother Guenter of Bonn, Germany; 9 grandchildren Graeme (Monique), Kendra (Matthew), Jillian, Alexandra, Hannah, Eric (Katheryn), Katrina (Frank), Sam (Rachel), Jenna (Allan); 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter Carola Sauerteig.
At his request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Donations in his memory may be made to Bobby’s Hospice, the Horst Sauerteig Engineering Fund c/o UNB Engineering Program or donors choice. www.fundyfuneralhome.com
