HAZEN LEROY BOULTER
November 27, 1921 – December 11, 2019
It is with much sadness that the family of Hazen Boulter announce his passing on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Dad was born in Fredericton on November 27, 1921. He was a proud lifelong resident of Devon. He was educated through the Fredericton school system and in his younger years, played baseball, softball and hockey. Dad was working on a farm when WWII started and he could have been exempt from military service, but instead he enlisted. Dad received his military training in Petawawa, ON. He served with the 103rd battery of the 6th Canadian Tank Regiment. After sailing on the Queen Mary in 1943, he received additional military training in England. Dad’s regiment was part of the Normandy invasion on June 6, 1944. The regiment fought from Juno Beach to Berlin, Germany. His regiment fought in the major battles of Trun, Carpiquet airfield and Falaise Pocket. Following the war, Dad returned to Fredericton and he and his wife, Rosaline Baird raised seven children. In 1955, Dad joined the Fredericton Fire Department and he retired as a Platoon Chief in 1986. Mother and dad were married for 72 years.

Dad is survived by children, Roy (Shirley), Mavis, Tom (Eva), Ron (Marilyn), Glenna and Verna (Norbert); also survived by several grandchildren; great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Dad is survived by his sister, Barb Smith of Lincoln; brothers, Harold (Joan) of Vernon, BC and Ken (Florence) of Fort Saskatchewan, AB; many nieces and nephews. Dad was predeceased by his wife, Rosaline Baird; his son, John William (Jack); his parents, Norman Boulter and Mabel MacKinnon; sisters, Honey Canney, Jessie Saunders, Shirley Finney, Doris Smith and Greta Palmer; brothers, Gordon, Lloyd and James.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Carmen Stuart for her dedicated service to dad’s health care. The family would also like to thank the Extra Mural Program and the representatives of the Veterans program (Paula and Laura) and the nurses of 4NE and the DECRH. Dad would never forgive us if we didn’t thank the staff of Governor Hall, Parkland and his new family and friends, the residents there. He truly enjoyed your company.
At dad’s request there will be no visitation. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, December 16, 2019 at Sunny Bank Cemetery at 2 pm with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Donation may be made to Fredericton Hospice House. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
