Harold Gordon Warren McBurnie
1946-2019
Harold
Gordon Warren McBurnie died peacefully December 26, 2019 at the Kings
County Memorial Hospital. Born February 18, 1946 in Truro, Nova
Scotia, he was the son of the late Gordon and Madeline McBurnie of
Economy, Nova Scotia. He is survived by his wife Frances, daughter
Laura and son Patrick (Joyelle), and granddaughter Millicent; as well
as his sister Linda, his “brother” cousin Ted Durning, and
his aunt Goldie.
From his childhood in Economy,
Nova Scotia to his stints in Iroquois and later Toronto, Ontario
before settling down in PEI for the last four decades of his life;
from the one-time M&M Motors in Montague and the fishing docks
of Beach Point to a “victory lap” in Fort McMurray, Alberta,
all who knew Harold will remember his charisma, his immense force of
will, and his uniquely blunt, colorful and absolutely unprintable
colloquialisms. Those whom he allowed into his inner circle also were
privy to his rarely shared tender heart and deep kindness. This
combined with his fighting spirit had him ever ready to roar into
battle for those he cared for. Our family is so grateful to everyone
at KCMH who took such good care of Dad and us through the repeated
hospitalizations of his valiant years facing end-stage liver disease.
We have designated Kings County Memorial Hospital for
donations.
Cremation to take place
privately with committal in the spring. At Harold’s request,
there will be no visitation or funeral. Instead, please join us at an
open house at 815 Roseberry Road, Belfast on Sunday, December 29 from
3pm to 7pm. Ferguson Logan Montague Funeral Home entrusted with the
arrangements.
