HAGEL, Elsie Irene (née Reorda)
November 2, 1924 — November 6, 2019
It is with a tremendous gratitude and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Elsie Irene Hagel. Mom was born in Kelowna, B.C., to Giovanni “John” and Carrie Reorda (née Ryder). She completed her education in local schools and worked at Fruit Packing Houses and at Shaw’s Candy. She married Matthias “Jim” Hagel on February 5, 1951 and lived her entire life in Kelowna. Elsie is survived by her loving children, Gerald (Rachelle) Cormons, Donna Eathorne, Shannon (Paul) Ross and Cheryl (Herb) Tanaka; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; as well as her sister Dorothy Hepner and brother Roland (Rennie) Reorda. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Elsie was predeceased by her loving husband; her parents and her siblings Mona Patterson, Jack Reorda, Roy Reorda, Mildred Quigley; and her son in-law, Peter Eathorne.
A celebration honouring mom’s long life will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 10:00 am at the Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna B.C. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.springfieldfuneralhome.com.
We do not possess the words to adequately express our thanks to the wonderful staff of Lakeview Lodge for your loving and compassionate care of our mother. You became her family and she felt free to display her wicked sense of humour in interacting with each of you. We also wish to thank Dr. Daniel Obedkoff for accepting mom as a patient and providing her with unsurpassed compassion and professional care and for your visits to see her at her residence. Her final years were lived in comfort and safety through the efforts of all of you. For this, we are truly grateful.
