Grant Clark
1924-2019
It is with great sadness, that the family of Grant Embert
Clark announce his passing, which occurred at Bobby’s
Hospice, on December 13, 2019, at the age of 95. Grant passed away
peacefully with his loving and devoted wife of 70 years, M. Maxine
(MacDonald) Clark, by his side, and surrounded by his
family.
Grant was born in Clarksville, Hants County, Nova Scotia, to
the late Stanley Cuthbert Clark and Elsie Blois (Wallace) Clark
McLellan. He is survived by his wife Maxine, and his five adult
children, Barbara, Lynn, Susan, Gail and Keith, and their spouses, as
well as 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He also
enjoyed the company of his beloved fur friend…Mitsey, the
Calico Cat.
Grant grew up in rural Nova Scotia with his four brothers. At
an early age, during the Second World War, he began his career with
the Dominion Atlantic Railway (DAR). He worked in various
locations throughout the Annapolis Valley as a Train Dispatcher,
spending most of his career in Kentville, Nova Scotia, and later
transferring to Saint John, New Brunswick, where he retired.
Upon retirement, Grant and Maxine moved to Norton, and lived happily
for the next 27 years. He enjoyed tending his garden, and the good
country life on the Kennebecasis River. He and Maxine relocated to
Rothesay in 2018.
Grant was a member of the Anglican Parish of Central Kings
Christ Church in Bloomfield, New Brunswick, where he served on the
Vestry and as Warden for several years
Besides his parents, Grant was predeceased by his brothers
Harold, John, Ralph and their wives, and is survived by his brother
Robert (Pauline), as well as many nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation or funeral service at this time.
At a later date there will be a Celebration of Life Service at Christ
Church in Bloomfield, N.B. under the direction of Sherwood Funeral
Home, (506-839-2156) Norton, N.B. The Internment Service will
take place at his family church in Stanley, Nova
Scotia.
For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, remembrances may be
made in Grant’s name to Christ Church, Bloomfield, N.B.,
Bobby’s Hospice in Saint John, New Brunswick, or the charity
of your choice.
The family is sincerely grateful for the professional and
compassionate care Dad received from the doctors, nurses and staff of
5CS at the Saint John Regional Hospital, and the wonderful caring team
at Bobby’s Hospice.
