Stewart: Florence JOYCE,
The passing occurred on Monday, December 9,
2019, of Florence JOYCE Stewart, 92, of Elk Court, and formerly of Old
Barns, NS. She was a daughter of the late James and Mary
(O’Hanley) Corbett. Joyce received her education at College
Road School, and Colchester Academy. She liked all crafts especially
counted cross stitch, knitting and quilting. She also liked to travel
and especially enjoyed her trips to Bangor with “The Girls”.
Joyce was a member of the Old Barns United Church, a charter member of
St. David’s United Church in Bible Hill, a life member of
Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and until her illness a member of the Good
Time Senior Citizens Club. Besides her parents she was predeceased by
her sister Joan Terris. She is survived by her husband of 69 years,
Ruthven Stewart; two sons, Michael (Susan), Tatamagouche, and Danny
(Cindy), Blackville, NB; three grandsons, Jake (Shannon), Joel
(Paula), Blackville, NB, and Timothy (Jordan), Lower Sackville, NS;
six great-grandchildren; several nieces and a nephew. Cremation has
taken place under the direction of the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral
Home, 55 Young Street Truro. As requested there will be no visitation
or funeral. At a later date there will be a private family graveside
service in the Old Barns Cemetery. If desired memorial donations may
be made to the Old Barns United Church, Old Barns, or to a charity of
your choice. Many thanks go to the staff at Elk Court, Brookfield, for
the wonderful care they gave Joyce, and Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral
