It is with extreme sadness, and sorrow, that the family announce the passing of Emanuel Bettencourt on Tuesday December 3, 2019. Emanuel was the son of Maria de Conceicao and (the late Manuel Bettencourt), brother of Octavio (Carol ), Odelcia (Mario Aguiar), Nelson, and Jerry (Vickie). He was the fun loving uncle who adored his nieces and nephews: David, Jenna, Jamie, and Daren Bettencourt, Eric, Deanna (Teresa Nieto), Jaclyn and Kevin Aguiar, Nicholas and Madison Bettencourt. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and relatives in Canada, USA, and Portugal.
Dear lifelong friend of Frank (Sanja) Ribarich and Mike Chernets, who were with Manny as his guardian angels on Earth through the past three years, during his illness. The family is forever grateful to Frank, Mike, neighbours, doctors and nurses at St. Joseph’s, Juravinski, and Toronto General Hospitals for their care and support.
Manny was an extremely generous, and kind, individual who had a wicked sense of humor. He always thought of, and helped, others before himself. If you called, or he heard that you needed help, he would literally drop whatever he was doing, to lend a hand. He always said he got more pleasure seeing others happy. He always had a positive, and happy disposition that would light up the room. He was always joking and laughing to cheer others up; even during his illness.
He loved to play and organize sports, and was a proud member of numerous baseball, and volleyball teams, in Hamilton. Manny was a long term employee of The City Of Hamilton, and Juravinski Hospital.
He will be missed.
Visitation at Bay Gardens Funeral Home – “William J. Markey Chapel”, 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Sunday from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, 20 Idlewood Avenue, Hamilton on Monday, December 9, 2019 at 10.00am. Burial at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, Burlington.
