Dorothy Edith (PARR) WIEBE
It’s with heartfelt sorrow we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt Dorothy Wiebe on December 22, 2019. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband John, daughter-in-law Laura and her siblings Dorthea, Donald, Stanley and Harold (Bud) Parr. She is survived by her children and their families; Garry (Brenda) children Christopher, Shaun, Amanda (Travis); Jerry (Susan) children Jennifer, Josalyn (Craig), Tanya (Will); Wayne ; Rodney child Curtis; Carolyn (Chris) children Justin (Amanda), Kristy (Joseph). She is also survived by her 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews whom she held close to her heart.
Dorothy Edith Parr was born February 4th,1936 in Keewatin Ontario. Shortly afterwards her family moved to Dryden where she spent her childhood. As a teenager she taught at the school house in Dryden which was one of her fondest memories. She met and married John Wiebe in 1954 in Dryden and started their family.
In the mid 60’s Dorothy, John and their young family moved back to Kenora. Mom loved being outdoors berry picking, fishing and gardening. While raising her children she also spent time working for TransCanada Homes, Kenora Home Bakery and with the MNR planting trees, picking pinecones and as a cook for the firefighters. She was involved with church, enjoyed music and played the accordian.
In the late 70’s Mom moved, with Carolyn and Rodney, to Sault Ste Marie, Ont. While there she worked for the Dept. of Corrections as a cook. During those years she became the “best of the best” coupon clipper and bargain shopper. She was a dotting grandmother with a kind heart and loved when her family came to spend time with her at Prince Lake.
Mom accepted everyone as they were and always made you feel comfortable “and well fed”. Around 2010 Mom returned to Kenora and became a long-time resident of Pinecrest Home for the Aged.
The family wishes to express a sincere thankyou to all the staff at Pinecrest for the care they gave, the doctors and volunteers – for your time and devotion. If so wishes donations can be made to the Alziemer’s Society or the Pinecrest Home Auxillary. A Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2019 – 1 PM at Alcock Funeral Home in Keewatin.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Dorothy Edith PARR WIEBE 2019..
