It is with great sadness that the family of Don smith announces his passing on Dec. 18, 2019. Don is survived by those whom he loved and who loved him right back: wife, Brenda; son, Kyle; brother, Norm; sisters and brothers-in-law, cousins and his huge group of close and loyal friends. We are all better for having known him, we will always remember him and we miss him terribly.
Like his favourite orator, Winston Churchill, Don enjoyed a glass of great red wine and a fine cigar. He had an amazing intelligence, wit and sense of humour – a twinkle in his eye. He loved travelling and exploring the world but was equally and maybe more content in his backyard, tending to the yard, feeding ‘his’ squirrel or chatting with friends. His home was his palace. He enjoyed Saturday ‘dates’ with his wife, weekly and spontaneous coffees with many of his friends, the annual Zak and Wooj Christmas party and reading a good book.
There will be a gathering of family and close friends in “Don’s” yard next summer to celebrate his life.
In lieu of flowers Don’s family would appreciate donations, in Don’s name, to the Terry Fox Foundation or a charity of choice.
