Darren’s Obituary
With heavy hearts, the family of Darren (George) McCarthy of Reid Street in Corner Brook wish to announce his passing on Wednesday, December 4th, 2019 at the age of 51 after a brief battle with cancer. Cremation has taken place.
Darren was the youngest child in the family and leaving to mourn with wonderful and loving memories are his elder brothers David (Lori), Duncannon, Pennsylvania; Brian, Mississauga, Ontario; Greg (Susan), Toronto, Ontario.
Predeceased by his parents Jerry & Marie McCarthy, Darren is lovingly remembered by his nephew Matthew McCarthy, niece Emma McCarthy, nephew Ryan McCarthy, niece Shannon McCarthy and a large circle of relatives, co-workers, and friends. Special thanks to family friends Helene Reid, Dr. Rob Ennis, Dave Moore, and Dr. Tony Tavenor.
Darren was a quiet, kind hearted son, brother, uncle, brother in-law, and friend who took great joy in the company of those both near and dear to him. Darren could always be counted on to lend a hand to those who needed it.
Darren was born in Corner Brook on and returned “home” after briefly residing in Ottawa. He took great pride in his home province and city. After moving back from Ontario Darren worked at the hospital in Corner Brook and went back to school where he successfully completed a program to become a Primary Care Paramedic. He worked exclusively in Western Newfoundland and enjoyed the lifestyle and challenges the work brought forward. Darren was also a fan of movies, video games and could never say no to a “feed of cabbage rolls”, his favourite meal.
Darren’s passing leaves much sorrow but also many happy memories to those who knew and loved him. Darren will be remembered. A celebration of Darren’s life will be confirmed at a later date.
