Leaving to mourn her loving husband of 58 years, Duncan Blundon; daughter Cheryl (Terry Head); son Chris (Linda); grandchildren, Allison, Jason (Holly), Janean (Brent), and Jenna (Tim); great-grandchildren, the sparkles of her eyes, Georgia, Allister, Christopher and William. Also mourning her loss is her brother, Vernon (Sonya); sisters, Sylvia and Peggy (Roy); sister-in-law Laura; brother-in-law, Edgar (Alice); sisters-in-law, Linda (Aubrey), Eva (Dave), Sylvia (Gordon), and Peggy (Doug) as well as a large circle of family and friends. Predeceased by her father and mother Hubert and Lilly Clarke, brother Rex and precious grandsons, Justin and Christopher William.
A sincere and heartfelt thanks to her doctors, nurses and caretakers, especially to her sister-in-law Sylvia Skinner and best friend, Daphne Cross whose love and selfless support mean the world to us.
Daphne led a full and happy wonderful life. She was devoted to her family and welcomed all into her home with open arms. She balanced her family life with work and many outside interests and activities. She retired from the Royal Bank in 1998 and amongst her fondest memories was her volunteering days with VOWR radio station where she was known as “Miss Daphne” to listeners.
Visitation will take place to celebrate her life at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Thursday, December 5 and Friday, December 6 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., and on Saturday, December 7 from 10 a.m. – 12 noon. Funeral service will take place at Cowan Heights United Church on December 7 at 2:30 p.m. with internment at Memorial Gardens, Galway, St. John’s on Monday, December 9 at 10 a.m.
