Obituary
“To create a thing of beauty, to inspire and remind oneself and others that beauty is all around us, if only we learn to see.” – dng
Gentle, generous and gifted soul, Dale Nigel Goble, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2019.
He leaves his mother and step-father Pierrette & Roger Morgan, Duncan, BC, his sister Jennifer Goble (Tom) Grande Prairie, AB, step-sister Sabrina Sawchuk (Jordy) Nanaimo, BC, half-brother Jordan Relling, half-sister Andrea Relling (Rory) and niece Sloan, Peace River, AB, grandparents Fernand & Madeleine Labrie, Duncan. BC, grandmother Mayva Goble (Edmonton AB), nephews Matthew Gravel (Angel), Portland, OR, Nicolas Gravel, Victoria, BC, niece Danielle Gravel and great- nieces Madeleine and Rowan, Peace River, AB, and the Friedmeyer Family of Ethiopia, California and Sidney, BC and aunts, uncles and cousins. Dale was pre-deceased by his father Gregory Goble, grandfather Ben Goble and aunt, Dena Goble.
Dale was a talented artist, designer and illustrator who’s personal style emerged from a desire to find and create beauty and meaning in the commonplace, in the single object and symbolic storytelling, creating a majority of his works by combining traditional mediums with new production methods. Dale saw the world in full color – bright, bold and cheerful. His greatest pleasure was creating, wanting to make the world a beautiful place. He was talented and incredibly generous, helping support countless charities. His desire was to be a great artist not wanting to be known for mediocrity.
Dale or dng as he was often referred to, worked until his body would work no more. The commitment to his art and his clients was admirable, never wanting to let his clients down. You were like a family to him and he wanted to do good work for you. The commitment to his work was nothing short of amazing even as he grew more and more tired.
Our eternal thanks go to Dr. Harwood Reimer, Dr. Michael Schachter, Lena and the Kidney Care Team, ICU Cowichan District hospital and Royal Jubilee Hospital, your kindness and words will always be remembered. To the countless people who prayed for Dale’s well being, his friends, colleagues and clients who encouraged him, and to all our friends who helped keep us grounded, thank you.
Memorial plans are being arranged and any updates regarding location and time will be posted here.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Dale N GOBLE April 29 1972 December 15 2019 (age 47)..

  1. Dale – I promised myself to send my 13 year old daughter to meet you next year. Cinni loves to draw and paint. You would be a great mentor to inspire her in person. So unfair that the talented ones always get to move on so soon. I still remember back in those years in MVCS daytime and boys dorm night time bunch of young hearted rascals running around passed mid night half naked, chasing each other for late night pizza and cup of noodles. Thank you for sharing all the great drawings, creativities and memories all these years. You will be missed dearly.
We graduated same year but insanely I can’t recall whether I graduated in 90 or 91, can u tell me. ha! Anyhow will catch up some day up there, save me a bottle!
    Cheers

  2. I had the great fortune to get to know Dale through Tangerine Dream Gallery and Studio, an art gallery I co-ran in Cowichan Bay for several years. Dale’s work was unique – gorgeous, colourful, and stylized imagery of Canadian scenes and animals – and was incredibly popular with visitors to the gallery. I found him to be a kind and gentle fellow creative, and I enjoyed our chats over the time that his work was a regular feature in Tangerine Dream. The world, and our small valley in particular, has lost a great talent and a lovely human being. My heartfelt sympathies go out to Dale’s family and close friends.
