Chester “Chet”‘s Obituary
COLEMAN, Chester “Chet” Cecil ~ age 66 of Nictaux, passed away December 29, 2019 at home. Born in Middleton, he was a son of Joyce (Sherman) Coleman, Nictaux and the late Harry Coleman. Throughout the years Chet’s number one priority was supporting and loving his large family. Chet and his wife Marilyn spent 45 beautiful years married making memories with each other and their three boys. You could say Chet and his three sons always kept Marilyn on her toes and he always wondered how he ever got so lucky. One of his greatest enjoyments was having everyone at the house for dinners; he always said the more, the merrier. He always loved spending time with his grandchildren especially wrestling with them on the floor just to make them laugh. Chet had a phenomenal sense of humor. He always got a good giggle razzing all the neighbors and their kids. Once fall came you could always find him hunting with his three sons (Russell, Ryan, and Randy) and occasionally would even let Marilyn join. Before heading out for hunting he would talk strategy with his best buddy Jimmy Colburne. For many years he enjoyed making fishing trips to the family camp out on Joe Simon lake. Chet was very well known in our little community being a member at the Middleton Legion playing pool, going to bingo every Friday night at the Nictaux Lions Hall, and he usually spent most of his mornings playing crib with friends at the Nictaux Fire Hall. Chet worked at the DOT Middleton NS for 30 plus years alongside his brother Buddy. He had many coworkers that became longtime friends. Chet will be greatly missed by his beautiful family and his friends for always putting a smile on everyone’s face. Chet (Papa Chet) will be missed by his wife, Marilyn (Matthews); sons, Russell (Krista) Coleman, Nictaux; Ryan (Ashlea) Coleman, Berwick; Randy Coleman (Keysha Cole), Nictaux Falls; Chad Wetter (Tammy Turner), Nictaux; his mother, Joyce, Nictaux; sisters, Shelley Wotton (Donnie Comeau), Mavillette; Pam Coleman, Nictaux; brother, Gerry Coleman (Linda Baltzer), Nictaux; grandchildren, Larissa, Romeo, Autumn, Dominic, Maddie, Macin, Rylea, Valea, Maverick, Trew, Kerstin, Kalie, Chelsey and expected grandson in May, “Ledger”. Besides his father, Chet was predeceased by his brothers, Harley Coleman and Buddy Coleman. In keeping with Chet’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2020 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St. 902-825-3448 with Rev. Leon Langille officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service in the Nictaux Fire Hall. Donations in memory may be made to the Carey Me Fund, supporting palliative care in the home.
