Cheryl Grasse Sullivan 19562019

Cheryl (Grasse) Sullivan
1956-2019
Cheryl passed away peacefully on
December 2nd, 2019 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital Palliative Care in
Fredericton, New Brunswick. Cheryl was 63 and was born on January 5,
1956 in Fredericton, New Brunswick to Eileen and Charles (Sonny)
Grasse. In the summer of 1979, Cheryl married her childhood friend and
the love of her life, Drew. Over the past 40 years, their life focused
on raising two wonderful children and enjoying a life to be proud of,
centred around family.
Cheryl spent her years, prior to
becoming a full time Mom, working for the Department of Tourism at the
Government of New Brunswick. In 1983 she had her first child, a son
and from that point forward, Cheryl devoted all her energy into
supporting Drew in his career and raising and caring for Jared and
Jenna (born 1985), the joys of her life.
Cheryl took great pride in being the
best Mom and Nanny around. She was an exemplary role-model for all
that knew her but especially for her granddaughters. She enjoyed
spending any time she could with her girls. Whether it was making
memories in St. Andrew’s by the Sea, the Muskokas, or simply
sitting and cuddling while watching a movie. She had such love for her
children and grandchildren, including her grandson on the
way.
Cheryl was best known for her
strength, courage, and positive outlook on life, even throughout her
battle with bladder cancer. Anyone who knew Cheryl admired her
unwavering strength. She would often say that she was lucky and that
things could have been far worse. Cheryl spent the past five years
defying all odds and fighting for more time with her family and
friends. In the end, no time is enough time. We are thankful for each
day that we had with her.
Cheryl was predeceased by her
parents Sonny and Eileen Grasse. She is survived by her husband Drew
Sullivan; her children Jenna Cochrane and husband Chris, Jared
Sullivan and significant other Paula Morton; her grandchildren London,
Lily, Shayne, and Ella; and her siblings Kevin Grasse and Wendy
Comeau.
The family thanks the Oncology and
Palliative Care Teams at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital for their
impeccable care of Cheryl. In addition, they would also like to thank
the extramural nurses who brought compassionate care into the home for
Cheryl along the way. The doctors and nurses went above and beyond in
seeking treatments for Cheryl and in making her feel comfortable
during this difficult time.
Thank you, Cheryl/Mom/Nanny, for
teaching us the importance of family. You are an excellent example of
strength, courage, positivity and kindness. You will be forever missed
and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing
you!
A funeral mass will be held on
Friday, December 6, 2019 at 2:00 PM at St. Dunstan’s
Catholic Church, 120 Regent Street. A small reception will
follow.
Memorial donations may be made to
Bladder Cancer Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society.
