Obituary of Cecil Dykstra
It is with great sadness the family of Cecil Dykstra announce his passing on December 18th, 2019 at the age of 76 at McGarrell Place, London. Beloved husband of Lillian Dykstra-McColl. Loving father of Tracy (Joe) Varga and the late Steven Dykstra. Grandfather of Alex and Josh Scriven, Jesse, Aaron, Chris, Samantha, and Sophia Varga. Survived by his brother John (Shirley) Dysktra, his niece Bev, his nephew Tom and his cousin Greitje. Predeceased by his parents Thomas and Ena Dykstra (Postma) and his niece Angie. Survived by his brothers-in-law Malcolm (Irma), Ronald, Hugh (Karen), John (Gail), Alec (late Lucille), and Donald (Esther) McColl. Also survived by his sisters-in-law Carol (late Gordon) and Marion (Loring) McColl. Predeceased by his sisters-in-law Marjorie and Sandra. Also predeceased by his brothers-in-law David and Keith McColl. Cecil will be remembered by many extended family and friends.
Cecil was born in Friesland, The Netherlands on September 6th, 1943. Cecil worked at Ford Motors in St. Thomas as an electrician. He was one of the first employed and retired in 2006 and was loved and remembered by many of his coworkers, neighbours and community.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 21st, 2019 from 10:30a.m. until the time of funeral service at 12:00p.m. at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY. Interment to follow at Ivan Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Parkinson Society of Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences and donations may be left at www.strathroyfuneralhome.com.
