Captain (Ret’d) Eric Donald Ernest Wells, CD, age
79, passed away peacefully in the Wolfville Nursing Home on Friday,
November 29, 2019 after a nine year battle with Parkinson’s
disease. He leaves to mourn his high school sweetheart and
wife of 57 years, Betty; a son, Chris (Mary) Wells, Almonte, Ontario;
a daughter, Deborah (David) Page; grandsons, Luc Hashey and Ordinary
Seaman Sam Hashey, all of Halifax; as well as two older sisters,
Barbara Bennet and Norma (Bill) McCachen of Victoria, B.C.
Eric, a proud member of the Royal Canadian Air Force, spent the
majority of his career in Greenwood, Nova Scotia on 404, 405 and 415
Squadrons and then to West Germany with ICAG (Canadian Air Group) for
three years. Upon his return to Canada he served as an
instructor at the Air Nav School in Winnipeg and back to Greenwood for
his final tour. After retirement Eric was very involved in Adult
Literacy at the local and provincial levels and was an avid model
railroader. He was active with Betty in both square dancing
and in ballroom dance with Dance Time in Port Williams. Eric
loved to sing and was a member of the Dukes of Kent for more than 15
years. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by
request. A memorial celebration service of Eric’s life,
followed by a reception, will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at
1:00 p.m. in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. In lieu of
flowers, donations in Eric’s memory can be made to the
Parkinson Canada – Atlantic Canada or The Dukes of Kent in
Kentville, Nova Scotia. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White
