Beatrice “Bonnie” Eavis
Georges River
It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our wonderful mother, Bonnie Eavis, age 76 on Sunday, December 1, 2019, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born on October 21, 1943, in Georges River, mom was the daughter of the late Charles and Jessie (Coffin) Taylor. Mom and Dad lived in Georges River most of their lives raising their four sons. Mom loved being a homemaker, and she was a loving wife and mother. She was so proud of being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mom loved cooking and baking especially for family gatherings. If anyone stopped in for a visit, there was always tea and something sweet to be served. She enjoyed family gatherings and the many card games with her sisters. Mom enjoyed her vegetable garden and making preserves. She also loved animals especially Sailor, Coby and Si.
Mom is survived by her four sons, Donald (Debbie) Eavis and Vernon (Brenda) Eavis, all of Georges River, Terrence (Bonnie) Eavis, Scotch Lake, Clayton (Ginette) Eavis, North Sydney; by her eleven grandchildren, Cyril, Corey, Melissa (Mark), Ashely, Tyler, Nathan (Christine), Stephanie (Dave), Ryan, Andre (Ryan), Brittany (Steve), Garrett and by her seven great- grandchildren, Beatrice, Callum, Carter, Clark, Levi, Archer and Everly. Mom is also survived by her five sisters, Gwen Keeping, Shirley (Ronald) Rose and Linda (Dave) Bennett, all of North Sydney, Betty (Dave) Beanlands, Peggy’s Cove, Joan (Alfie) Warhuus, Georges River; brothers, Don Taylor and Tom (Suzanne) Taylor, both of Ontario, Charlie (Patsy) Taylor, Sydney Mines. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Verva Taylor, Sydney Mines, Joan Eavis, North Sydney; brothers-in-law, Phil (Karen) Eavis, Ball’s Creek, Tom Eavis, North Sydney, and by many nieces and nephews.
Besides mom’s parents, she was predeceased by her husband Cyril Eavis, brother, Ralph Taylor, sister, Marjorie Livingstone, mother-in-law, Margaret (Strickland) Eavis, father-in-law Clayton Eavis, sisters-in-law, Shirley Taylor, Yvonne Eavis and brothers-in-law, Berkley Keeping, Ronald Eavis and Ward “Buddy” Eavis.
We would like to thank V.O.N., and Palliative Care, especially the nurses that cared for mom. We would also like to thank the ER doctors at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital in Baddeck and the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for the excellent care they gave mom.
By request there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held Thursday 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Wesley United Church, North Sydney, with Marjorie Serafinus officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
