Anita Shapiro
(née Ein)
Peacefully, on Sunday, December 1, 2019. Beloved wife of the late Gerald for fifty-six years. Devoted mother and mother-in-law of Jonathan, Paul, Fred and Carol. Cherished grandmother of Annie and Samantha. Predeceased by her siblings and their spouses; and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. In addition to being a loving mother, Anita spent her life dedicated to her art career. Her talent was recognized early, when she was awarded a scholarship in high school for Art School. She spent many years working in the art department of several large department stores in Montreal, creating fashion sketches for their newspaper advertisements, which she left shortly after marrying Gerald. Her artwork was widely recognized, and she was active in the art community, into her nineties. She will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews, relatives, friends and colleagues in the art community. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Jewish Eldercare Kastner Pavilion, as well as those at Le Manoir Westmount for their care, kindness and devotion. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean-Talon St. W., on Friday, December 6 at 1:00 p.m. Burial at Congregation Shaar Hashomayim Cemetery, 1250 Ch. de la Fôret. Shiva information to be announced. Contributions in her memory may be made to Donald Berman Jewish Hospital of Hope Eldercare Foundation, (514) 738-4500, ext. 2124.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Anita Shapiro 2019..
