ALICE LAVINA JANE NEWMAN December 1 2019

It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of our sweet mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Alice.
She was born and raised in Redvers, SK and moved to Vancouver Island as a teen. She met and married Herbert Newman in 1947. In 1952 they moved to New Sarepta where they farmed and raised seven children. The farm was sold in 1974. Dad and Mom retired to Leduc.
Our mother was one of the strongest women I know…steadfast, supportive and nurturing. She provided a home for us where we felt loved and safe. She taught us the importance of respect, integrity, truth and honesty and wouldn’t hesitate to get us back on track if we wandered off.
A wonderful baker and cook! She always had a meal and treats available for visitors. Mom loved music and dancing, country music and gospel were her favorite. She loved children and after retirement, she worked at Little Otters Day Care for 3 years.
The highlight of her life was the arrival of her grandkids and great-grandkids! How excited she would be to hear of a new baby on the way. These children were never spoiled!
We’ve been blessed to have had this amazing lady in our lives and will do our best to uphold the values she instilled in us.
Your earthly journey is complete now…may you rest in peace.
Leaving to cherish her memory:
Seven Children: Sandra (Dan) Ferguson, Garry (Elfie) Newman, Bob Newman, Cheryl (Deryld) Dublanko, Leslie (Vikki) Newman, Daniel (Joan) Newman, Kelly (Shirley) Newman
