Obituary
Adeline Grodecki (nee Lambert), beloved wife of the late Joseph Grodecki, died peacefully at Valleyview Care Centre surrounded by family on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 90 years of age. She was born in Wynyard, SK on March 20, 1929, the fourth of eleven children. Adeline married Joe Grodecki on July 4, 1953. They lived in various towns in Manitoba, finally settling in Dauphin from 1967 to 1984. During that time, Adeline worked as a stenographer. Joe and Adeline enjoyed playing cards with friends, yard sales, jigsaw puzzles, and playing bingo. Adeline was an avid sports fan, especially hockey and baseball. She was also an excellent bowler and won numerous trophies through the years. Adeline was a devout Catholic. Her unshakeable faith and prayer devotions were a great source of strength and consolation. She considered her six children to be her greatest blessing and was always available to them with unending support and wisdom. Adeline loved her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren – family meant everything to her. Even when her memory declined with age, you knew without a doubt family was a priority. Her face lit up and her eyes sparkled with delight as she gave the biggest, warmest smile that always made you feel loved. Adeline was predeceased by her husband Joe; an infant granddaughter; three brothers, and two sisters; and numerous in-laws.
She is survived by her children, Emily (Doug) Thomson, Brandon; Terry (Merv) Durston, Dauphin; Lawrence, Brandon; Greg, Toronto; Susan (Craig) Hayward, Brandon; and Monica (Kevin) Smith, Brandon. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, in-laws, nieces and nephews.
