It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Adam Jokat (82) on Monday, December 16, 2019. Loving husband of Margaret Jokat. Father of Brian, Kathy (Peter Shaw) and Patricia. Grandfather to Jordan Dozzi, Olympia Jokat, Mackenzie and Sam Shaw, Veronica, Liam and Morgan Kitching.
Pre deseased by Adolf and Anna (parents), brothers Emil, Edward and Ludwig, sisters Marianne, Anna, Emilie, and Frida. Survived by sisters, Helena, Elsa and Erna.
Adam was born January 26, 1937 in Germany. The 11th of 12 children.
In 1952, Adam arrived in Kapuskasing with his sister Helen and husband, Henry. He moved to Sudbury in 1955 where he met and married Margaret O’Keefe in 1961. He worked at the CPR and retired from Falconbridge in 1998.
Adam loved to camp, hunt, and fish. He served in the Irish Regiment for 3 years, umpired, refereed, coached and was a St. John’s Ambulance volunteer. He was always involved in his children’s activities and was very proud of his grandchildren all of whom he loved dearly.
His sense of humour, kindness and patience will truly be missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury on Friday, December 27, 2019 from 12 – 2pm. A funeral service will be celebrated in the R.J. Barnard chapel at 2pm with a gathering after. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Health Sciences North Foundation – Dialysis Unit is appreciated.
