GRANT: Ruth Grant, wife of the late Charles Grant, passed away at her residence, Hillcrest Place Personal Care Home on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the age of 97 years. Agnes Ruth Grant (née Greaves) was born in 1922 and raised in the Elva area, the youngest of ten children. In the 1940’s, Ruth came to Chater to teach in a one room rural schoolhouse. It was here that she met her husband Charlie. They married in 1944 and began their life together on the Grant family dairy farm. Together Ruth and Charlie raised six children. Ruth went back to teaching in the late 1960’s, teaching at Valleyview Centennial School and Vincent Massey High School, before trying her hand at a new career in real estate. She continued to live on the family farm until moving to Brandon in 2007 to live at Lion’s Manor. Music played a major role in Ruth’s life. Her family remembers spending many hours crowded around the piano or organ, singing with her. She also loved her time spent at the lake, gardening, and growing flowers. She always looked forward to family gatherings, especially time spent with her eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Ruth was active in the church, and was one of the original leaders of the Chater 4-H clothing club. Ruth was predeceased by her husband Charlie in 1977 and her daughter Heather From in 2008. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Ted (Stacia) Grant; Diane (Cameron) Stirling; Susan Grant; Alison (Bob) Dixon and Kathryn Grant as well as her grandchildren: Scott, Jeff, Laura, Jenna, JJ, Ashleigh, Kade and Alison and six great grandchildren: Sierra, Colby, Lane, Paige, Jax and Mackenzie. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Agnes Ruth Grant April 22 1922 November 2 2019..
