Obituary of Sandy Schweyer
It is with deep sorrow that the Schweyer family shares the news of the passing of their beloved spouse, mother, grandmother and sister, Sandra (Sandy) Schweyer (nee Hess) on December 27, 2019 at the age of 77. Sandy is survived by her husband of 54 years, Doug Schweyer of Quesnel, daughter Alissa Schweyer of Quesnel, son Rob Schweyer (Jenny) of Petawawa, ON, sister Jennifer Pinette (Joe) of Quesnel, and grandchildren Eaden McTaggart of Quesnel, Grace McTaggart of Calgary, AB, Mikayla Schweyer of Maple Ridge, BC, Joshua Schweyer (Myah Barber) of Maple Ridge, BC and Josiah Schweyer of Petawawa, ON. She is predeceased by her father, Harold (Ed) Hess (1988) and mother Lillian Hess (2011), both formerly of Quesnel.
Nothing in Sandy’s life was more important than her family. Sandy was deeply devoted to her children and a doting grandparent to her five grandchildren.
Music has always brought Sandy immense joy. She sang in the choir at St.John’s Anglican church for many years, and always had a song on her lips at home. Sandy had a lifelong love affair with dogs, and her many canines throughout the years, including her beloved pug, Lillibelle, brought her much happiness. Sandy also loved to cook and hosted many dinners in her home for family and friends throughout the years.
Sandy will always be remembered by her family and friends for her compassion and kind heartedness. She could strike up a conversation with total strangers and had a soft spot for the lonely and the downcast, often bringing them into her home to share a meal or a special occasion. She loved to socialize, host parties and spend time with those she cared about.
A memorial service to honor Sandy’s life will be held on Saturday, January 4 at 1:00 pm at St. John’s Anglican Church, located at 465 Kinchant St. in Quesnel. All are welcome.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Sandy
