1941-2019
Richard Clyde Tibert – age 78, of Kentville,
passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, December 24, 2019 with his beloved
“Tiger” wife, Rita, by his side after a long courageous
battle with cancer. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Tillman
B. and Freda (Elliott) Tibert. Richard was a member of the Royal
Canadian Legion for 42 years, serving Branch No. 92, 20 and 06. He was
also a member of Valley Gardeners for several years and Kentville New
Horizons for 16 years and St. James Anglican Men’s Club for
18 years. Besides his wife of 56 years, Henrietta
“Rita” (Ramsey); he is also survived by daughters,
Tammy-Lynn (Vernon) Provencal, Vicki Ellen Tibert (Howie
O’Hara), both of Kentville; son, Jayson (Pamela) Tibert,
Cambridge; daughter-in-law, Lisa Tibert, Saunderstown, Rhode Island;
grandchildren, Spencer Welch, Taylor (Noor) Welch, Roland Provencal,
Isaac (Kelsey) Tibert, all of Kentville; Nicholas Tibert, Waterloo,
ON; Ryan (Missy) Bradford, Canning; Mason Bradford, Waterville;
Lindsay (Ali) Milbury, Arlington; Vanessa (Jason) Crocker, Rachel
Provencal, both of Kentville; Dylan (Ellery) Tibert, Stanardsville,
VA; Chloe Tibert, Bend Oregon; Riley Tibert, Saunderstown, Rhode
Island; great-grandchildren, Caden, Chloe, Sophia, Alex, Conner, Jack,
Oliver and Lily; sisters, Brenda Deaves (Charles Davey), St.
Catharines, ON; Diana (Gord) Jones, St. Catharines, ON; Sheryl
Crocker, Calgary, AB; Joanne (Billy) Howard, Freeport, Digby County;
brothers, James Tibert, Central Grove, Digby County and Ross Tibert,
Halifax. He was predeceased by son, Neil; brother, Andrew; son-in-law,
Michael Welch; brothers-in-law, Harry Neil, Fred Deaves and
sister-in-law, Martha Ramsey. Cremation
has taken place. The funeral service, followed by a
reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 16, 2020 in the
St. James Anglican Church, Kentville, Reverend Shirley Cole
officating. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may
be made to VON – Annapolis Valley, Valley Regional Hospital
Foundation or the Valley Hospice Foundation. The family would like to
thank Dr. Paul Yaffe, Dr. JP McCarthy, Dr. Julia Merryweather, Dr.
Hollandhorst, radiation department of the Victoria General Hospital,
Halifax, the amazing team of palliative care, VON nurses, caregivers
for respite and home support Dr. Lori Burgess, Dr. Karen Burch and
Paulette Bennett, as well as Red Cross for use of equipment and
Pharmasave Berwick for the hospital bed. Special thanks to Dr. Robert
Mullen, family physician, who was here when we needed him without
hesitation. Thank you to everyone who came to visit or call on both of
us, especially to Winston Upshall, Ken Layton and Virginia Redden who
came to visit every Thursday afternoon for the past year and a half.
