Ryan PEARCE Friday December 06, 2019
PEARCE, Christopher “Ryan” 1948 – 2019 – went to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ on Friday, December 5th, 2019 in his 72nd year. Dearly beloved husband of Mary Pearce. Greatly loved father and grandfather of Andrew and Megan Pearce, their children Kennedy and Jackson; and Dr. John and Hoa Pearce, their son James. Ryan will be sorely missed by his siblings and their spouses: Garth and Grace Pearce, Maria Pearce and the late Marc, Eric and Debbie Pearce, and Karen and Douglas Rucker. He will also be sadly missed by Mary’s mother Reta Nunn; and by her siblings, Ernie and Sandra Nunn, Gary and Grace McConnell, Larry and Julie Nunn, Gord Silverthorn and the late Ruth, the late Evelyn Nunn-Smith, and Leonard Nunn. Ryan was predeceased by his parents, Norman and Isabelle Pearce and by his stepmother Muriel Pearce and his father-in-law Ernest Nunn. He will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, and extended family, whom he treasured. Ryan was born and raised in Deep River. Being a lover of sports, he loved all this wonderful community had to offer in that field. While there he played football, hockey, tennis, and swam in the river. He graduated from the University of Waterloo and the Faculty of Education in London. In 1975, his full-time teaching career first began with the Norfolk Board of Education, then continued with the Grand Erie District School Board until 2006. He taught a number of different grades. Ryan truly loved the simple pleasures of life: spending time with his dear wife and beloved children and grandchildren…supporting them in all their endeavours, socializing with his dear relatives and many wonderful friends, conversing with whomever he’d meet in a day, praying for others and offering words of encouragement, watching sports on TV, playing cards, and keeping abreast of world events. Above all, he loved serving and honouring the Lord in whatever way he could. This brought him great joy, purpose, and fulfillment. The greatest tribute you could make to Ryan is to read and reflect on two of his favourite passages in the Bible: Psalm 139 and John 15. His faith in Christ transformed his life and he wanted others to experience the love, joy, and inner peace he received from accepting Jesus as his Lord and Saviour. In 1977, Ryan clearly received these words from the Lord, “Obedience…the mark of a man”; every day thereafter he tried to live obediently to God’s Word. Until we meet again, good-bye my love! Friends are invited to share their memories of Ryan with his family at the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. North Simcoe for visitation on Wednesday, December 11th, 2019 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. Ryan’s homegoing service will be held at EMMANUEL BIBLE CHURCH, 24 Churchill Circle, Simcoe on Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jeff MacLeod officiating. Refreshments will be served in the gymnasium immediately following the service. Public interment: Greenwood Cemetery, Thompson Rd. Waterford at 2:00 p.m. Those wishing to donate in memory of Ryan are asked to consider Ezra Canada, Evergreen Heights Christian Fellowship or the Norfolk General Hospital (Emergency Department).
