Thomas Vincent Boag December 2 1921 October 14 2019 (age 97)

Tom passed away peacefully, at Trillium Hospice in Parksville on October 14, 2019. He had lived a great life and has left behind a family who love him dearly. Tom was predeceased by his parents, John [Jock] and Agnes [nee Vincent] and brother, Jack. He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Jean; his children Ron [Kay], David [Gwenn] and Ann Bartlett; six grandchildren, Tana, John, Mark, Jayme, Shaun and Heather; and fourteen great grandchildren, Adam, Tom, Jaryd, Syerra, Justin, Curran, Ruby, Leo, Jasper, Calder, Sione, Jared, Seamus and Tanya.
Tom was born in Bevan, B. C., near Cumberland, and spent his youth in the interior of B. C. [Blakeburn], near Princeton, where he excelled in school and played a lot of hockey and baseball. In 1940, he started work for Macmillan Bloedel, at Vancouver Plywoods. Tom briefly served in the RCAF, during WW II, as an airplane mechanic. As he was completing his tour of duty in Comox, Tom met and married the love of his life, Jean Mary Burnett, from Courtenay, and off they danced to their great life together. After the war, Tom resumed his career with M & B, which continued until he retired in 1981. His area of expertise was in dealing with people, in Personnel and Community relations management, for Macmillan Bloedel. By the time Tom retired, he had a long list of people and fellow employees that he had helped, over his almost 42 years in the forest products industry.
After retirement, Tom and Jean built their “dream” home on the “best” lot in Dolphin Estates [now Fairwinds], and they enjoyed golfing, curling and travelling with their family and good friends. Tom was also an avid and successful, fisherman, in his boat, Aphrodite. He was a founding member of Fairwinds Golf Club, and of the Parksville Curling Club, which he devoted about 14 years of his life, to finally see opened in 2003.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oceanside Hospice Society on behalf of the Hospice at Trillium, or the BC Cancer Foundation.
