Callaghan, Sheila Doris – 82, of Truro, NS, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 2nd, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Onslow Mountain, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Ethel (Crowe) Fielding. Sheila was a lover of all things in life – nature, animals, people and especially babies and children. She volunteered many years for Kane‘s Kitchen in Immaculate Conception Parish, Truro. There she practiced her faith and found great love through the Lord our God, which she taught and passed on to her family. Sheila is survived by her husband of 48 years, Joseph Pius “Kelly” Callaghan; daughter, Tammy Longard (Ryan); sons, Eldon Wood (Wendy Furlotte) and Joey Callaghan (Barbara Dow-MacSwain); grandchildren, Danielle Wood (Steven Bruce) and Brennan Callaghan; great grandchildren, Jenna Lee and Keaghan; sister, Julia Blackmore; dear brother, Jack Fielding; nephew, Todd Fielding (Patty) and several other nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Elizabeth Wood in infancy; son, Robert “Bobby” Wood; sisters, Reta Rice, Hazel Delaney, Barbara Atkinson, and Marilyn Waller; brothers, Fred, Russell, Gerald and Sherman.
As per Sheila’s wishes, Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, November 8, 2019 at 11am in Immaculate Conception Church, 669 Prince St., Truro with Father Dariusz Miskowicz officiating. Reception to follow in Campbell Hall. Interment will be at a later date. Donations may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul c/o Immaculate Conception Church. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Palliative Care staff and the VON nurses. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro.
