Memorial Donation
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our father, Raymond O’Quinn, on November 17th, 2019 at the age of 91 years. He died peacefully in the comfort of his own home with his family surrounding him.
He will be dearly missed by his children: Debbie (Andrew) Butt of St. John’s, Brendan of Stephenville, Betty (Garry) Murphy of St. John’s, Lenny of St. John’s, Carol of Stephenville, Melanie (Perry) Alexander of Stephenville and Michelle O’Quinn (Perry White) of Stephenville. Dad will be thought of often with loving memories by his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Nora, his son, Ron Aucoin, and daughter, Sheila Hunt.
Dad was a humble, kind, gentle and hardworking man. He loved his cat Cinnamon, his constant companion and guardian to the end. He was an outdoorsman who loved moose hunting, fishing and cutting wood for his wood stove. He thoroughly enjoyed watching sports, especially the Blue Jays and Brad Gushue. His happiest times involved a good game of cards with his family at home or at the park. Dad was very proud of his family and made each of us feel very special.
Our family was very fortunate to have had April Madore and Janet Dalton provide loving support and the best of care to Dad. In doing so they became a special part of our family.
Thank you to Lori Chaffey, Nurse Practitioner, for her professionalism and compassion in helping us and dad especially during the last few weeks.
Thank you to Dr. A. McComiskey, dad’s lifelong family physician, Day Surgery Nurses, and other staff of Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital who helped dad with his many visits.
Special recognition is also given to the Community Support Staff whose assistance was invaluable in helping us care for dad in his own home.
The family will be receiving friends at Russell’s Funeral Home on Prince Rupert Drive in Stephenville on Wednesday November 20th, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral services will take place on Thursday November 21st, 2019 at 1pm from St. Stephen’s Parish on West Street in Stephenville with internment in the Hillside Interfaith Cemetery on the Hansen Highway.
As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donation may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation in Ray’s memory.
