It is with heavy hearts that the family of George Errol Murphy of Lorneville announce his passing on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on April 5, 1940 in New Glasgow, NS, George was the son of the late Elizabeth (Libby) Jean (MacKenzie) and Roy Stewart Murphy.
Survived by his loving wife of 61 years Jeannette Marie Louise (Viau); children Bill (Pam), Lisa (Gerald) and Tammy (Dale). 7 grandchildren; Matthew, Geoffrey, Alicia, Stephanie, John Kevin, Shannon and Austin as well as 5 great-grandchildren; Dylan, Chloe, Trinity, Delilah and Ellie.
George was a signaller with the Canadian Army and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #69 of Saint John, NB. George was also a member of the Millwright Union Local #2262 until his retirement when he opened a small engine repair shop in Lorneville for the past 30 years.
The Family would like to extend a thank you to all the staff and volunteers on the Palliative and Oncology Care Units as well as a special thank you to Dr. Vance Anderson and staff for their compassion and care.
By request there will be no visitation or service, however there will be a reception at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424), from 2-4 pm on Saturday, November 16, 2019. In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s memory can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #69, the SPCA, or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
